Safety, Education, and Awareness on Colorado Waters

Karen Steely, Aaron's mother, Works both with NASBLA and NBSAC (National Association of State Boating Law Administrators) and (National Boating Safety Advisory Council). Karen is on three committees for NASBLA  - Boats and Associated Equipment, Law Enforcement, and Boating Accident Investigations and Reporting (BAIRC).

Karen Plans to continue working with NASBLA, NBSAC the NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) representative and with the Office of Boating Safety of the U.S. Coast Guard to continue to keep important safety issues in the forefront of their minds. We also continue to work with the Colorado State Parks to get out the safety message.

NBSAC - Gives advisory (directions) to the Office of Boating Safety of the U.S. Coast Guard.

Karen also helped with input for Model Acts for BLA's to take to the State Legislation for safety issue laws.She also helped with input on a brochure for children and PWC's. 

In 2003, Karen spoke in Las Vegas, Nevada to the International Boating and Water Safety Summit. (IBWSS) at a general session told Aaron's story to over 400 boating safety advocates around the U.S. and world.
